There are two scholarships available at PCC right now, with deadlines coming up soon.
Kathleen D. Loly Scholarship, due on April 6th, is for outstanding foreign language students who are also AGS members. That’s right, this scholarship is exclusive to AGS members. Visit C247 for more information or to get a copy of the application.
Kathleen D. Loly was born in England and emigrated to the United States. She taught Spanish at Pasadena City College, and was one of the original founders of Alpha Gamma Sigma in 1926, which explains why Pasadena is the Alpha Chapter of AGS. Prior to her death in 1958, she bequeathed her estate to AGS, and these monies formed the basis of a stock portfolio from which AGS derives its ability to award scholarships each year.
The Flea Market Scholarship is due May 1. From a pool of $20,000, awards will be given to candidates in 4 categories. For more information, contact Flea Market director Carrie Afuso in CC105 or at cmafuso@pasadena.edu
When the Pasadena City College Flea Market originated in the late 1970s, it was designed to benefit students through programmatic support and scholarships. To this day, the Market has maintained that designation.
