International Peer Mentor Program - ends 06/14/12

Alpha Gamma Sigma now coordinates the Peer Mentor Program, which matches an American student with an international one in order to acculturate her or him. There aren't specific shifts since each mentor (that's you) will decide upon meeting times with his or her protege. This community service event has advantages since it may be done on your spare time and can be very exciting.

This program will go from the final weeks of February through June.

Feeding Skid Row - ends 06/16/12

Location: Saturday: 2435 Colorado Boulevard, Eagle Rock, CA (Christian Assembly) ------ Skid Row (Sixth St and Gladus Ave in Downtown LA --- Sunday shift)

Join a group of compassionate individuals and reach out to the homeless on Skid Row. Skid Row in Downtown LA is a several block area where the homeless dwell. Three times a week, the police sweep the streets of all the homeless, so as you could imagine they don't feel any stability.

Whereas Saturday shifts are meal preparation, Sunday shifts include handing out food and socializing with the homeless. As we hand out food, we'll get to know the homeless on a heart-to-heart level. Each person has a story to tell, so let's be the listening ear. For the Sunday shifts, we will travel in groups of five or more. Also, please bring any items (food or clothing) that you want to donate.

Remember, drivers earn a bonus CS hour.

A church hosts this event, but AGS doesn't necessarily participate in the Christian aspects.
