Habitat Restoration at Debs Park 5/25 - ends 05/25/19

Location: Debs Park (Los Angeles, CA)

We are given an opportunity the National Audubon Society, one of the oldest conservation organizations in the country.They are situated in the largest piece of public open space in the lower Los Angeles River Watershed. The Center is a vital and unique gathering place for the Northeast LA community. Our mission is to inspire people to experience, understand, and care for the local natural world.

Program Description: Help beautify and restore the natural flora and fauna of Debs Park. We ask you to join us in removing undesirable weeds and watering our native restoration areas. With your help, we can make Northeast LA a bird friendly community. As we head into a hot summer, it is vital that we give our new plants the best possible chance to survive.

Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities: Undesirable plant removal, native plant propagation, restoration site watering.

Time Commitment: 3 hours.

Requirements: Wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty. Bring a hat and water bottle and wear sun protection.

USC Pacific Asia Museum Pasadena - ends 06/14/19

Location: 46 N. Los Robles Ave Pasadena, CA 91101

Volunteering at USC Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena is a great way to learn about art and culture of Asia and the Pacific Islands, meet people with similar interests, and share your knowledge and enthusiasm with visitors. Volunteers are a vital and valued part of the museum. Enjoy the camaraderie of fellow volunteers, the rewards of helping others, and the opportunity to make a difference.

There are many ways for volunteers to support USC Pacific Asia Museum including:

|Art Making Workshop Volunteer - Assist children and adults with an art project
|Event Volunteer - Help guide and host visitors for special museum events including giving directions, taking tickets, conducting audience surveys and more
|Logistics Volunteer - Help with the set-up and tear down of events which may include lifting and carrying items
|Office Volunteer - Assist with office tasks including photocopying, document preparation, filing, etc.

Additionally, fulfill essential visitor services, including welcoming and directing guests to galleries and around the museum, and supplying information about USC PAM’s array of offerings; Assist in art-making workshops; Assist at festivals, evening events, and other public programs; Provide logistical support for performances and events.

Requirements:
Delight in working with the public; Become familiar with the exhibitions, collections, and programming in order to answer visitor questions confidently; Attend in-service training.

For those that are majoring in Anthropology, Sociology, and History, volunteering at USC Pacific Asian Museum will definitely improve your transfer application and will get a hands-on experience! Training is provided.
